9:30am - 11:00am Welcome and Keynote Conversation
Resistance is Not a Spectator Sport: Racial Reckoning in LGBTQ+ Life and Community* Closed captioning provided.
This Keynote Conversation will include Kris Henderson from the Amistad Project, Celena Morrison from the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office, LaTonya Myers from the Philadelphia Community Bail Fund, and educator Alicia T. Crosby and will be moderated by PFP parent and faith organizer Naomi Washington-Leapheart. PFP members may remember Naomi as our conference keynote speaker in 2018.
The discussion will center around the work of acknowledging and disrupting white supremacy in LGBTQ+ communities and beyond through strategic organizing and other forms of political engagement, including building revolutionary-minded queer families. Participants will leave the session with some concrete ideas on how to discuss these topics within their families (immediate, extended and chosen), how resistance and solidarity can become habits, not hobbies, and finally how to show up authentically and move from being allies to accomplices.

Navigating Learning at Home** sponsored by Main Line Fertility
Whether your kids are attending virtual school at home, in-person or hybrid school, or homeschooling, there are a multitude of challenges parents are facing in this unprecedented time. We’ll discuss concerns about kids falling behind, getting the social engagement your kids need, and how to make sure your LGBTQ+ family is still represented in the virtual classroom. The session will be led by the new principal at Penn Alexander in West Philly, Lauren Overton, and Northeast High School's principal Omar Crowder.
Talking to Your Kids About Race and Racism***
With increased visibility of racial violence in recent months, many parents and caregivers are wondering when and how to address race and racism with their children. In this workshop, we will discuss why it is so important to talk about race and best practices for doing so, examine strategies for overcoming discomfort and our own socialization into colorblindness, and role play conversations in order to gain confidence. This session will be led by educators Gina Cline and Sherry Wyche.
